How Do You Do It?

“How do you do it?” is a question I’m often asked, especially when it comes to writing books, being transparent about my life’s challenges and struggles, emerging from pain, or simply balancing all that I have on my plate.

My answer to that question is simple. I simply start. The first book I ever wrote out of the three (and counting) I’ve written started only when I started. The first time I started sharing of a heartbreak, a breakthrough, a breakdown or a break away only started when I started. The first time I started doing anything I’d not yet done didn’t start until I started. Through fear, doubt, lack of funds, past failures, ignorance to the subject matter I knew I needed to become an expert in, insecurities or the plethora of “what ifs”, I started. I opened the laptop. I wrote in my journal. I started watching the “how to” video. I reached out to an expert. I picked up the phone to find out more.. I wrote out my vision and kept it before my sight. I waved the white flag and let go of my own need to control. I asked someone I loved with a valued perspective for their thoughts on what I was pursuing. I paid the subscription for the training course or the website. I researched what I wanted to pursue. I carved out time everyday to at least think about what I knew I was meant to do. I simply started.

That’s it. That’s the blog post. The secret is simple. Starting is the only way to start.
